Challenge

A client faced a staffing gap when their Grants Manager departed just as their Chief Philanthropy Officer returned from maternity leave with year-end reporting and renewal deadlines piled up. With funding relationships on the line and limited internal capacity, the Executive Director needed to find a quick and effective solution.

Solution

An experienced Scribe grant writer worked one-on-one with the Chief Philanthropy Officer, and adapted quickly to the client’s in-house voice to maintain consistency and professionalism in all grants collateral.

Implementation & Results

Over several months, Scribe managed the grants calendar: completing reports, preparing renewal submissions, and drafting new proposals. Scribe operated as an integrated extension of the YWCA team, allowing leadership to remain focused on timely strategic and operational needs.

Outcomes

Scribe’s services filled the gap while during the hiring process for a new full-time grant manager, a process which took about 3 months. During the staff transition, 100% of grant deliverables were submitted on time, preserving relationships with major institutional funders. The client enjoyed flexible, expert support during a key staffing transition.

Leveraging Scribe’s assistance can help a nonprofit maintain relationships with external partners and safeguard critical functions during periods of organizational change.
